Welcome to Vista 3604!

Prepared to be lost in the complex the first few days as the numbering system (and lack of numbers on one side of the building) will boggle you. Building 35 next to building 36? Think again, my friend!

Above you'll see the infamous building 36: home to the fantabulous dead sexy ladies of 3604! Although quite a walking distance to the buses, 36 had its perks... a short walk to the hot tub, basketball court and clubhouse, spitting distance from the tennis court, mailboxes and Pavillion. Oh! Can't forget the wonderful pond! Watch it disintegrate before your very eyes (you can already see it drying up), go for a nice swim (ignore the health code warning sign) and feed the duckies! (by the way, I'm kidding about the swimming in the pond part) Another nice thing about having an upper-numbered apartment is that they tend to be newer and the bathrooms are actually bigger than if you lived in building 9 and such.

One of the first things you will see is the living room/dining room/kitchen area. The door to the right of the fridge is for maintenance. Occasionally they'll stop by while you're at home without warning and replace the water heater leaving you without running water for a few hours. (not that I'm bitter they did that on my only day off) To the right of that is a hallway leading to the two other bedrooms and the "public" bathroom. *hint* Check under your counter :)

To the right is our living room. It comes furnished with 2 end tables, a coffee table, a couch, 2 lumpy couch pillows and a cushy chair. If you get an old crappy couch like we did, try not to think about what could be on it... or get a colorful sheet to put over it. It's your choice, but considering the term "Vista Lay" you probably don't want to bring in a blacklight to reveal its secrets. The window on the lower right was broken by a softball in April/May. Security broke the rest of the glass by breaking it from the outside in spraying the living room with bitty pieces of glass while we were in the vicinity "you might want to move..." I wish I had taken a picture of it when it was boarded up (true Vista Way ghetto!) So if you're ever in building 36 and cut your feet with little shards of glass, you know where they came from :)

Here's our "lived in" living room. I recommend buying or bringing a wall clock and a big dry erase board so you can leave messages / see each other's schedules.

The kitchen comes with a microwave, stove, dishes, crusty pots and the like. I suggest bringing or buying a toaster, cordless phone, paper towel holder, pot holders, a decent knife and a Brita filter. Our fridge froze our refrigerated items and melted our freezer items. Don't be alarmed if it leaks... just buy lots of tupperware so your food doesn't get soggy. Of course if you're at Chatham, you don't have to worry about crummy old sub-par appliances... but you want to be at Vista because that's where all the action's at :)

Here is our doorway. To the right is one bedroom I had the pleasure of occupying (more on that later) to the left is the closet (where we stored hangers, coats, laundry crap, etc)

Here's a picture of my room. I lucked out and got the one with the bathroom inside of it. That way you don't have to worry about being indecent coming back to change. Also, you only have to share it with one other person.

Here's another view of the room. You can see that we have 2 sinks :) so there's no waiting around to primp! The closet is on the far left wall. I'll see if I can find a picture that has it there. It's a walk-in closet... perfect size to change in if your roommate is chatting with a guy in the room. Also, there's a small locker. I ended up not even using my locker, but I just happened to get really lucky with my roommates. I have heard about stuff being stolen from other apartments. Don't be a lazy ass like me. Lock your valuables!

To the left of the first sink is a little cubbyhole to store all your bathroom related stuff. I recommend buying a cheap little vanity trashcan so you don't need to walk into the bathroom just to throw something away. I forgot to get a picture of the actual vanity, but to the right of the sink is a medicine cabinet. Another cool thing is the abundance of under-sink cabinet space in case you decide to buy a lot of cleaning supplies (although when you'll get the time to clean is beyond me... you'll be having too much fun engaging in non-cleaning activities)

Here's our bathroom. There's a towl rack behind the door. The room with its own bathroom doesn't have a tub, but the other bathroom does. Not much of a loss since that leaves more room to shower and less to clean... besides, you wouldn't want to take a bath in a Vista tub anyways. I recommend bringing a little shower caddy to hook over the showerhead for easy soap access. You can see a little soap holder up there already, but it doesn't hold much.

I wish I had taken more pictures of the other rooms, but I hope this at least gives you a decent idea of the living area.

Take Me HOME tonight!
